March 28 update: Hill Campus kids score at state spelling bee! Seventh graders Maddie Kerr and Dylan Salzman earned a berth at the 2010 Colorado State Spelling Bee, held March 6 at the Colorado Convention Center, by being among the top 25 spellers in all of Denver Public Schools. Hill was among only six DPS schools that made it to the state level.
Dylan Salzman placed fifth among all middle schoolers in the state!
Dylan and Maddie were recognized for their performance by the School Board on March 18.
The Hill Semantics Team competed at the citywide written spelling bee on February 18. Of more than 200 kids from 28 DPS schools competing, two Hill spellers made it into the top 25. Maddie Kerr (24th) and Dylan Salzman (6th) qualified to compete at the citywide oral spelling bee March 3rd here at Hill and the Colorado State Spelling Bee on March 6th at the Colorado Convention Center. Way to spell, Skyhawks!
The Hill Semantics team participated in its second spelling bee on Thursday, January 28. Competing against 40 kids from Smiley, RMSEL and Florida Waller, Hill had two students in the top 10: Maddie Kerr placed 8th and Dylan Salzman placed 4th.
The team will participate in the citywide written spelling bee on February 18. Results from that bee will determine who goes on to compete at the state bee.
