About the Hill Campus CSC
Parent representatives are needed for the Hill Campus CSC (Collaborative School Committee); click here for more information.
The Collaborative School Committee (CSC) is essentially the governing body of each DPS school. In April of 1991, Denver Pubic Schools (DPS) began implementing site-based management teams to improve student achievement and school effectiveness. The work of the CSC involves site-based decision making related to school governance.
What does the CSC do?
The stated purpose of the CSC structure is to advance student achievement and school climate. The primary responsibility of the CSC is to develop and monitor implementation of the School Improvement Plan (SIP). In addition, the CSC provides guidance in relation to the school staffing plan and budget.
Specific ongoing CSC roles and responsibilities include, among others:
- To act as the School Improvement and Accountability Council (SIAC) for the building.
- To establish relationships with parents and community members to increase involvement in the school and to provide a forum for community input.
- To provide guidance, evaluation, and approval for the use of the staffing allocations provided by the District as it relates to the SIP.
- To review, and when appropriate, to approve discipline and safety procedures and revisions to the school calendar or schedule.
- To make recommendations to the District, through the Principal, regarding any changes to the school design.
- The CSC does not participate in day-to-day operations of the school, nor in personnel issues. The CSC has no involvement in issues regarding any individuals (staff, students, or parents) within the school.
How is the CSC different from the PTA?
The PTA is Hill's fundraising body, dedicated to providing enrichment opportunities beyond what DPS funds for our school.
