January 5: Hill Campus students checked out 11,341 books from August to December of this year! We had the third-highest number of checked-out books of all DPS schools. Great job, Hill readers!
December 18: Congratulations to the Hill Semantics team, which participated in its first spelling bee of the year. Forty kids from four schools (Hill, Hamilton, Southmoor, and Bradley) were in the bee, and Hill had three Top 12 finishers: Maddie Kerr (12th place) Diana Thompson (10th place), and Dylan Salzman (6th place).
December 18: All after-school activities will be cancelled the week of December 14-18, as staff members will be involved in scoring benchmark assessments.

December 11: Volunteers are needed to sell refreshments during the Steck Elementary Winter Program, held in the Hill Campus auditorium on Thursday, 12/10, 6pm-8pm. This is a Hill PTA fundraiser. Contact Ann Davis if you can help.

November 21: The boys flag football team is in the playoffs!
November 20: The Hill Campus Canned Food Drive is now underway. Bring nonperishable food items to your seminar class by Friday, November 20.
November 20: Eighth-graders and their parents: come to High School Presentation Night at Hill Campus on November 19. Representatives from and information about George Washington, East, Thomas Jefferson, West, and South High Schools will be available.
November 17: Beginners' ski trip to Breckenridge, 12/9, (first 40 students to sign up). The PTA is funding transportation and the SOS Diversity program will fund the lessons, equipment, clothing and lunch. All forms and permission slips must be submitted by November 24. See Ms. Slocum for details.
November 17: Both the boys flag football team and girls volleyball team are in the playoffs!
November 10: Come check out Brain Bowl, November 9, after school, from 2:40 to 3:45, in room 216. Students from all grades are welcome. Brain Bowl will meet on most Mondays until the February 6 district Brain Bowl Competition. Please note there is no late bus on Mondays for after-school activities.
November 9: Get your car washed at the Royal Wash (Leetsdale & Oneida), mention you are with Hill, and the owner will donate $2 of your wash to our school!

October 27: Student-led conferences and report card pickup (if you don't hear from your student's teachers about a set time for a parent conference, come by anytime between the hours of 3pm-7pm on your designated day.):
- October 26th for last names beginning with A-L.
- October 27th for last names beginning with M-Z.
October 22: Yearbook cover art contest; see Ms. Saba in room 118 for an entry form with rules and guidelines. There will be 1st-, 2nd- and 3rd-place winners.

October 16: The October 15 concert has been canceled.
October 16 is picture retake day. Pick up an order form in the office. Retakes are available for new students, if you want retakes, or if you didn't order the first time. Money is due ON PICTURE DAY ONLY!
October 16 is an early-release day for students. All students must leave campus by 11:30am; there will be no after-school activities, sports, or clubs.
October 16 is the last day to pay the $20 materials fee. Students who have not paid will have their computer login disabled. See your student's language arts teacher for the list of students, and pay the fee in the Treasurer's Office.
October 6: October 5 is the first Famous Dave's BBQ fundraiser for Hill Campus. On the first Monday of every month, Famous Dave's BBQ, at 7557 E. 36th Ave. (303-399-3100), will donate 15% to Hill Campus. To participate, place your receipt (dine-in or take-out) in the marked box at the hostess stand.
October 5: The deadline for submitting information for the student directory is October 2. You can pick up a form in the office. If you have questions, email PTA President Ann Davis.
October 2: September 30, 6pm, at Hill Campus: a State of the Schools Event. Superintendent Tom Boasberg will discuss our schools’ progress, challenges, the work that lies ahead, and the draft “2009 Denver Plan” – our strategic vision and action plan to accelerate student achievement – for the community’s review and input. September 17: Free after-school tutoring will be provided by Sylvan Learning Centers. Applications are available in the Main Office and should be returned by Wednesday, September 16.

September 16: Denver Parks and Rec is hosting five new after-school clubs this fall at Hill Campus.
September 4: Back-to-school night is Thursday, September 3, from 6pm-8pm. Your student will give you a copy of his or her schedule for you to follow that night.
September 4: CSC ballot: vote for two CSC parent representatives at back-to-school night.
September 2: From Ms. Haskell and Ms. Marx: All requests for schedule changes have been reviewed, and all possible changes have been made. No further schedule changes will be considered.
September 2: Parents: have you reviewed and signed your Student/Parent Agreement? Students: return your signed agreement to your seminar teacher.
August 28: Information for parents of students who are on the cross-country team.
August 27: If your student is participating in fall sports, he or she must have had a physical by August 27.

August 13: School registration: If you have already received a white registration packet in the mail, please come to Hill Campus to register your child on Tuesday, August 11, or Wednesday, August 12, from 9am to 3:30pm. PLEASE CORRECT AND BRING the re-enrollment packet to speed up the process.
If you DID NOT RECEIVE a white registration packet in the mail, you are welcome to drop by Monday, August 10th, and pick up a pre-printed re-enrollment packet for your student (along with other forms). You may return on Tuesday, August 11, or Wednesday, August 12, from 9am to 3:30pm to turn in the forms.
In addition to bringing the registration packet, there is a $20 registration fee. Please bring cash if possible.
August 13: The PTA is looking for co-presidents, a treasurer, and a secretary for 2009-2010. It is a very rewarding task, not too time consuming, and an invaluable asset to the entire school community.
August 13: DPS provides FREE breakfast and lunch to ALL children ages 1 to 18, Monday-Friday, all summer (except for Friday, 6/3). Click here for more information.
